Wine Judging

Judging for the 2024 Cairns Show Wine Awards has concluded. Thank you to all participants and medal winners. 

Public Tasting

After judgement day, the De Jalais Function Centre at the Cairns Show Grounds, will be open to the public to taste.

(Strictly 18+ event). 

Throughout the day, wine appreciation workshops will be offered to educate those interested in delving deeper into the wine industry.

About the Awards

The Awards has become a prominent fixture on the Australian Wine Industry Calendar, held annually in June. The Awards shine a spotlight on wine style, appropriate food pairings, and overall wine quality. Their significance is particulary notable in the Far North of Australia, a region known for its robust tourism and hospitality industry. 

The event's reputation has been built on a firm commitment to internationally recognised judging criteria and the participation of high-trained Judges, lending creditability to the Cairns Show Wine Awards. The national recognition within the industry is evident form the calibre of Judges attracted to the event. 

While the primary focus of the Awards is to acknowlege exceptional wines through the awarding of Trophies and Medals, it also aims to promote the event within the local wine market and provide exposure for wineries who enter. The Wine Awards are beneficial as they provide a platform for vintners to showcase their craftmanship, foster industry standards, and offer consumers insights into the diverse world of wines.
